At 6:00am on Saturday, 14 November, nearly 60 people gathered at the bottom of Devil’s Peak, after months of training, to begin a day’s worth of hiking mountains. Three to be exact. These people weren’t gathered because they are crazy (though for some that might be questionable), they were gathered for a shared purpose.
For 4 years now, The Message Trust has challenged both team members and activists alike, to climb 3 of Cape Town’s well-known peaks in order to raise funds and awareness for The Message to be able to continue the work we are doing throughout the city. This year’s goal of the fundraiser was not just to raise R125,000, but to actively unite in shared interest to spread awareness of The Message’s vision of reaching at-risk youth and transforming their lives and communities for the better.
We are so thankful to everyone that played a part in this year’s Three Peaks fundraiser. Because of those involved, we were able to smash our goal of R125,000 and raise OVER R155,000 to go towards the continuation of the work we are doing. We are expecting to do even better next year as this event continues to grow in size and success! If you would like to join us for the next Three Peaks event, please be sure to contact us! (We’ll be easy to find. We’re the ones with stiff legs and loads of ice packs, desperately trying to recover).
