Our creative missions team packed their bags, dusted off their Afrikaans, and prepared their energy levels as we headed to Citrusdal to host a week of holiday club, in partnership with Hebron Community Projects and the Mouton Foundation. After a couple of postponements, the week of missions could finally take place, and our team was so excited to hang out with the kids again.
The excitement of the team met the high energy of the kids in Citrusdal, and the tone was set for the week. On Monday and Tuesday, we worked with the Hebron Community Projects; to deliver the holiday club program to approximately two hundred kids. Similarly, on Wednesday and Tuesday, one hundred and twenty kids showed up for a fun and inspiring two-day holiday club program. There was tons of dancing, memory-verses, and laughter.
But our heart is not only to reach the kids but to impact the entire family. So, on Thursday evening, both the kids and the team hosted a parents’ evening alongside Mouton Foundation. Everyone came around food, performances, and encouragement. Having gone through our Genetik Sessions and learning a dance choreography, the young people performed for their parents during the evening. The night provided a space for the parents to see what their kids did during the holiday club.
The following day, we hosted an interactive and impactful ‘Friday night youth’ event. We saw approximately one hundred and fifty young people fill the auditorium. The team hosted games, gave testimonies, and showcased a few performances. After the evening’s talk, we saw around ninety young people respond to the gospel.
We are so grateful for our team that showed up to serve and inspire the kids during this week. To our partners, Hebron and Mouton, it was an honor to see and be part of the work that they are doing in Citrusdal. Finally, we’re so thankful for how God showed up every day, and we believe that every seed sown into the lives of the kids will grow into God-sized futures and dreams.
