Respect ME has Christian values at its heart and seeks to equip, empower and build up young people to be the best they can be, breaking down the lies of the media to help them understand their value, and giving them a hope and a future. Respect ME is a schools based programme that helps young people discuss subjects that they face daily in a relevant and choice-positive way, moving them towards their God-given potential.
Our Respect ME team recently had the opportunity to deliver the Girls Course program at a Christian home for pregnant teens and ladies in crisis. This experience was particularly challenging, as the context of the opportunity was different from our usual engagements. However, the project exceeded all our expectations and left a profound impact on both the participants and our team.
The program was designed to address issues related to self-esteem, healthy relationships, and personal growth. Over three days, our team facilitated interactive sessions that included games, facts, practical tips, and discussions about critical aspects of the law. The small group setting allowed for authentic conversations and helped build trust with the participants.
The feedback we received was nothing short of incredible. One lady shared that despite her age, she had never realized how little she knew about the topics we covered. She noted that she had grown more in those three days than ever before, which was a testament to the program’s impact.
At the end of the course, all the ladies and teens received a certificate of completion and a letter of affirmation. They proudly displayed their certificates in their rooms, a visible reminder of their achievements and their journey with the Respect ME team.
This experience reaffirmed our belief in the importance of the Girls Course and its ability to empower women, especially those in crisis. We are grateful for the opportunity to make a difference and look forward to continuing this vital work in other communities.
