Our First Job Journey Behind Bars

Over the past few years, our prisons work has evolved—shifting at times and focusing on the reintegration process. Today, our focus is on helping young men transition from prison or gang life into meaningful employment, faith, and family. Recently, our team began running a “Job Journey” inside Drakenstein Prison, walking alongside a group of young men as they prepare for life beyond the bars.

Each week, Sinawo—our dedicated junior MEP trainer—along with other team members, has made the long drive to deliver these sessions. From crafting CVs to practising interviews, the goal has been clear: equip these men with the tools and confidence they need to thrive on the outside.

In a conversation with Sinawo, she said that the young men are ‘feeling more confident, hopeful and prepared to change.’ Let’s keep Sinawo and her team in prayer as they finish up the course over the next few weeks.

Now, as we near the end of our first-ever Job Journey behind bars, we’re filled with hope. This isn’t just about employment—it’s about restoring dignity, purpose, and the belief that a different future is possible.

We are just about to run a Job Journey Course for previously incarcerated Individuals and youth-at-risk from the ages of 18-35 in our Leadership and Development centre in Mowbray. If you know of someone who could benefit from this, please email [email protected]
