Can you believe we’re almost at the end of this year’s cohort? Our journey with 22 incredible young people is drawing to a close, and we’re looking forward to celebrating this milestone together at our upcoming Youth Conference.
Over the past few sessions, we’ve placed a strong emphasis on Youth Evangelism and Discipleship. Our focus has not only been on teaching young people how to do evangelism, but on helping them become evangelistic in their everyday lives. We’ve also explored how evangelism and discipleship work hand in hand to develop wholehearted, mature followers of Christ. After all, we are called to be not only hearers of the Word, but doers also.
One of the most rewarding moments is seeing the “lightbulb moment” when young people realise that sharing their faith doesn’t have to be complicated. The common belief of, “I don’t do evangelism because I don’t know how,” begins to fade as they discover the simplicity and accessibility of sharing Jesus with others. Confidence grows as they realise they’re not alone in their struggles and questions.
We’re wrapping up these sessions with a practical challenge. In their final session, the youth leaders will be responsible for designing and presenting a complete youth programme around one of the following themes:
- Social Media and Jesus
- Choosing God, Not Gangs
- Culture and Christianity
It’s always inspiring to see the creativity, passion, and leadership that emerge during these exercises. Time and again, the young leaders surprise themselves with what they can accomplish when they apply their minds and embrace the opportunity.
While this year’s programme is coming to an end, it’s incredibly encouraging to see so many young people choosing to lay down their lives in service of others and the Kingdom of God. One thing is certain: the future of our youth is in very good hands.
