Higher is all about working alongside local churches to organise large-scale evangelistic events where the gospel is shared with thousands of young people through innovative schools work, gigs and community initiatives. And this is exactly what we did last month in Kewtown (Cape Town).
Partnering with New Destiny Church and Calvary Baptist Mission Church, we were determined to share the gospel boldly with young people across the neighbourhood so ran a jam-packed week of prayer, mission and outreach.
We started the week by meeting together to pray for the area and for our young people before the creative mission teams took to the streets on outreach, chatting with over 100 young people in the area and inviting them along to the end-of-week evangelistic gig.
During the week, our teams also went into a local school in Kewtown and met with over 600 young people, performing gospel-filled tracks for them and inviting the students along to the gig the next day.
The Higher gig was an incredible event packed with young people sharing their testimonies, powerful songs from world-class artists including Chrissy T, King Smasher, KIV and A.B.O, and of course the gospel being boldly shared from the stage. 260 young people came along and as they heard about the hope of Jesus, 60 responded to the gospel and gave their lives to God!
Each of these young people was given a Bible and faith resources, were prayed for by members of our partner churches and got connected in with local youth groups. Do be praying for those who responded as they grow in their faith and get discipled by local churches.
