We, The Message Family, send you warm greetings as we enter the new year. As we reflect on all that our team has accomplished in these last 12 months we are blown away by their dedication and commitment to raising a generation of Urban Heroes.
This year your support enabled us to do the following
- Engage with over 120+ young people weekly in our Community Hubs with discipleship, educational support and recreational development. This means that we had over 5000 engagements with young people throughout the year. It is especially heartwarming to be able to communicate that all of our young people in Parkwood, who had previously failed their grades, have moved on to their next grade with passes.
- The Creative Missions teams had over 20,000 engagements with young people through two Genetik Sessions projects, four Higher Tours, four bloom events and Respect Me Life Skills sessions in schools, churches and girls’ homes in Cape Town.
- Our team saw all four of our Discipleship house residents gain employment and when the government unemployment percentage is over 80%, over 80% of our course graduates are now in employment.
As we approach the end of the financial year, we’d like to ask that you consider supporting the work of The Message Trust. Maybe, you are wondering what your money can do. Below is a list of baseline costs for some of our key projects based on our new financial year budget.
- R9 000 can help support five young people in our community hubs as they engage with Education, discipleship and recreational development for the year.
- R25 000 can help sponsor a Bloom event for over one hundred young women.
- R35 000 can help sponsor a Barista training course for ten young people to gain the skills necessary to find employment.
- R75 000 can help sponsor a Higher Tour in a community where we can engage with thousands of young people giving opportunities for the gospel to be heard in a relevant and engaging way.
We are aware that not only are young people across Cape Town struggling under the strain of lack of resources, mental health issues, the influence of gangs and the prevalence of drug abuse, but churches are also crying out for assistance. We are convinced that we need to go deeper with young people in these communities to serve them and raise up God fearing leaders who will stand against the storms in faith and believe God for lasting transformation.
We want to remain relevant and adapt to the needs of young people so that we are effective in delivering gospel-centred programmes using various platforms that appeals to youth. We aim to strengthen our partnerships with local churches so that we can provide long-term engagement with young people that provides them with consistent discipleship and support. We want to empower young people to make positive choices that will shape their future and be able to break free from self-destructive behaviours and fulfil their God-given potential.
We request that you support us to build the capacity within the organisation to ensure that our mission team is fully equipped and resourced to be able to continue with the work that we are doing and fulfil our goals for 2025. Your support will assist us to be able to reach more teenagers and young people with the gospel in various forms across the city.
