Message Nights 2026: Gathering North & South

This year, we were filled with gratitude and excitement to host not one, but two Message Nights — and what an incredible season it was. Across both events, over 380 people gathered with us to celebrate what God is doing in and through our city through the work of The Message and our partners. This year’s theme, “The more stars, the more light,” shaped the heart of both evenings as we introduced our wider network to the many “stars” shining across our city — people, partners, and stories reflecting God’s light in unique and powerful ways.

What were the Message Nights about?

The Message Nights were evenings of celebration, storytelling, and shared vision. We gathered to hear stories of real lives being impacted, to reflect on the work unfolding across Cape Town, and to lift our eyes to what God is building through The Message. Throughout the nights, we highlighted the stars across our network — individuals, churches, and partners faithfully shining the light of Jesus in their communities. Each story reminded us that as more people step into mission, the light of the gospel shines brighter across our city.

At the heart of both evenings was a simple invitation: gather with us, go with us, and give to us. Gathering speaks to praying alongside us through our new WhatsApp prayer community. Going is about stepping into mission by volunteering and serving alongside us. Giving is partnering financially to help sustain and grow the work. Together, these responses reminded us that mission isn’t something we spectate — it’s something we participate in, and every “star” plays a part.

Where did the Message Nights happen?

We hosted two Message Nights in different areas of the city, creating space for people from across Cape Town to be part of the story. One evening was held in the north of the city in partnership with Emerging Church, and the other took place in the south at Claremont Baptist Church. Both venues were incredibly welcoming, and both nights were exceptionally well attended. There was a strong sense of joy and expectation as people gathered to celebrate the growing constellation of God’s work across our city.

The rooms were filled with a beautifully diverse group of people — a true reflection of the many “stars” within the Message family. Church partners, nonprofit partners, friends, and family were all present. Some have stood with us faithfully for many years, while others have only recently begun engaging with our work. Across the two nights, more than 400 people gathered, each bringing their own story, passion, and call to shine God’s light where they are.

What stood out most was the unity in the room. People from different churches, backgrounds, and parts of the city stood together, celebrating what God is doing across Cape Town. It felt like looking at a sky full of stars — distinct, diverse, and all shining together. There was a deep sense of shared purpose: one Church, responding to one mission. It was a beautiful and tangible picture of the body of Christ reflecting God’s light together.

One particularly meaningful Jesus moment came through a story shared after one of the Message Nights. A partner who had previously been on the fringes of our work, engaging mainly through family connections, shared that something shifted for her during the evening. Hearing the stories of transformation — seeing the “stars” across our network — stirred her faith. She left inspired with a desire to volunteer, to give, and to pray. It was a powerful reminder that when we faithfully share what God is doing, new lights are ignited.

How can you be part of it?

If you weren’t able to attend a Message Night — or even if you were — it’s not too late to respond. You can gather with us by joining our WhatsApp prayer community and praying alongside us. You can go with us by volunteering and serving with us in mission across the city. You can also give with us by financially partnering with the work we are doing to reach more young people and communities with hope and the love of Jesus. Every act of obedience adds to the light God is shining through this movement.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, hosted, prayed, gave, shared stories, and stood with us. These Message Nights were a powerful reminder that the more stars there are, the more light there is — and together, we are expectant for all that God is still to come.
