After the incredible energy of our recent BLOOM YA event, we were honoured to receive a heartfelt invitation to host a Mini BLOOM session in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The opportunity came as part of a youth gathering, and we were given a two-hour window to pour into the lives of over 20 young women. What a privilege it was!
We revisited our 2022 theme, You Were Made to Fly, and while distilling the full BLOOM experience into just two hours was a challenge, it turned out to be deeply meaningful. The young women leaned in with open hearts—absorbing every word of encouragement and lighting up during our signature “BLOOM on the Sofa” conversation.
As the morning drew to a close, many shared how deeply the session had impacted them. Some even expressed their hope of one day attending a full BLOOM event in the DRC— something we’d love to see happen!
One young woman’s reflection on the theme FLY captured the spirit of the day so beautifully:
“I learnt so much—especially as we looked at how a bird flies. It really spoke to me. The wings of a bird reminded me that their design isn’t random; it’s intentional. They are divinely crafted by God to soar through the skies. In the same way, I am wonderfully and beautifully made to live out a unique purpose.
Then I learned about the muscles in a bird’s chest. These muscles give them the strength and lightness to take off and stay in flight. That made me think of the Holy Spirit. He is our strength, and as we allow Him to lead and guide us, we become lighter. But we also have to let go of the things in our lives that make us heavy—fears, distractions, sins, even unhealthy relationships. These are the things that weigh us down and keep us from flying into our calling.
And then, something else stood out to me: birds have incredibly sharp vision. That’s how they know where to land. For us, prayer gives us that same clarity. A consistent, intentional prayer life keeps our vision focused, so we can move toward the future God has for us.

Each BLOOM experience is made possible through the generosity of those who believe in the vision. While the cost per attendee is just over R500, we’re committed to making BLOOM free for every young woman who joins us.
