Our Creative Missions team and HC (Higher Collective) artists, Alistair and Talia, had the privilege of serving at a holiday club hosted by Every Nation Church in Retreat, Cape Town. We supported the church’s youth program by facilitating Genetik Session workshops focusing on vocals, rap, poetry, and dance. Additionally, our Respect ME leader, Taryn, led impactful sessions on Consent and Abuse, empowering the youth with the knowledge and confidence to make informed choices about sex and relationships.
The theme for the holiday club was “Transformed,” inspired by Romans 12:2: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Although our team had limited control over the program, we received outstanding feedback from the youth pastor, who praised our unique approach and ability to connect with young people year after year.
We concluded the week with a panel discussion featuring Message team members and youth leaders. The young participants submitted anonymous questions, which the panel addressed with honesty and transparency. This session allowed us to delve into the topic of unforgiveness, encouraging the youth to seek God’s forgiveness and, in turn, forgive others. The holiday club was a powerful time of transformation and reflection. Through transparency and openness, we reinforced the theme of the week, urging the youth to renew their minds and be transformed into the likeness of Jesus, rather than conforming to societal norms.
